Mathematics

Investigating heavier and lighter

Mathematics is important in our everyday life, allowing us to make sense of the world around us and to manage our lives.

In Mathematics, Scottish Heinemann Maths is the core resource in Primary 1-5. Maths in Action is used in Primary 6 and 7.

Both schemes are supported by an extensive range of other materials and resources including maths games/challenges and IT programmes/activities. This enables all recommended experiences and outcomes to be met. Pupils are given achievable, realistic targets.

Interactive maths is a daily part of our Maths programme to enhance oral and mental calculation skills.

Problem Solving strategies and skills for investigation are taught as a discrete topic and incorporated into other curricular areas.
