Children experience many changes during their lives. The bigger ones include the transition from Pre-school to Primary 1 and from Primary 7 to Secondary.

Some pupils will respond with confidence, others with apprehension. Therefore, these transitions should be gradual ones, over time, supported by sensitive planning and preparation.

Successful and effective transitions recognise the importance of providing continuity of experience for children and their families. They provide opportunities for children and their parents to familiarise themselves with their new school environment and to start building relationships with key members of staff.
